Liam Dwyer had hometown advantage on some of the crowd, having grown up in Victoria, attended Mount Douglas High School and trained with the junior Harriers under Bruce Deacon. He went on to compete for the University of British Columbia Thunderbirds.
Dwyer was seeking sub-30 and ran 30:09, but is pleased with his effort. He will race a 1500m and a couple of other races at track meets on the West Coast before getting into summer training.
