Kenyan Agnes Ngetich became the first to break the 30-minute barrier in a women’s-only 10km race on Saturday. She bettered the mark by going 29:27 at the Adizero Road To Records event in Herzogenaurach, Germany.
She won the race by over one minute. After the 2km mark, she already had a big lead.

Ngetich then continued at a sub-3:00/km pace until the halfway point, which she recorded in 14:37.
The pace slowed to 3:00/km during the second half. The 24-year-old finished with a drop in pace (not quite a sprint) to cover the second 5km in 14:50.
Four Ethiopians finished too far back to be in her wake, including Fentaye Belayneh in 30:30 and Senayet Getachew in 30:31.
Ngetich holds the mixed-gender 10km record at 28:46, which she set in Valencia in January 2024. Her 5km best is 14:23, while her 5000m (track) best is 14:23.70. Expect her to destroy her 10,000m personal best, which is a comparably slow 31:34.83.
Fellow countrywoman Beatrice Chebet holds the current 10,000m record at 28:54.14, which she set during the Diamond League in Eugene, OR, last year. Ethiopian Gudaf Tsegey holds the world record in the 5000m at 14:00.21, expect Chebet or Ngetich to be the first under 14:00.
Meanwhile, Karsten Warholm broke 300m hurdles world record in China
Norwegian hurdler Karsten Warholm raced the 2025 Diamond League season opener in Xiamen, China, breaking his world record in the men’s 300m hurdles. Warholm ran 33.05 seconds, surpassing his previous mark of 33.26 set in Oslo, Norway in 2021.

Warholm’s also destroyed the field as Brazil’s Matheus Lima secured second place in 33.98 seconds, and Japan’s Ken Toyoda took third in 34.22 seconds. It was not even close.
The 29-year-old Norwegian currently holds the world record in the 400m hurdles, which he set at the 2021 Tokyo Olympic Games in 45.94.
