Mohamad Katir
Mohamed Katir from Spain has appealed the first instance decision of the disciplinary tribunal. He was charged with tampering (for which he was banned for four years). The Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) has cross-appealed the appeal filed by the athlete against that first instance decision.
“Katir,” a press release states, “was sanctioned under Rule 2.5 of the Anti-Doping Rules (ADR). The rule relates to Tampering or Attempted Tampering with any part of doping control by an athlete or other person, and following a charge brought by the AIU on June 12 2024. The four-year ban will run concurrently with the ongoing Whereabouts Failures sanction. This extends Katir’s ban from the sport until February 2028.”
Katir holds three national records. Two are in the 1500m, 3000m indoors or “short track,” events. He also holds the national and European record in the 5000m event. At the Monaco Diamond League meet in July 2023, he bettered Jakob Ingebrigtsen’s European record of 12:48.45 with his 12:45.01 performance.
Koki Ikeda
Meanwhile, Koki Ikeda from Japan has also appealed the first-instance decision of the disciplinary tribunal that he committed an anti-doping rule violation—an Athlete Biological Passport (ABP) case (for which he was also banned for four years). These matters are pending before the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).

The 26-year-old Japanese racewalker has been provisionally suspended since November 1, 2024, and the time served has been credited to his ban. His results between June 20, 2023 and November 1, 2024 have been disqualified.
The suspension is appealable to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
Ikeda is a two-time Olympian. He competed in both the 2021 Tokyo Olympic Games and the 2024 Paris Olympic Games. He is also a two-time World Championships competitor, which included the 2019 Doha and 2021 Eugene meets.
His personal best over 20 km is 1:16:51.
Norah Jeruto
Yesterday, it was announced that Kenyan Norah Jeruto, who runs for Kazakhstan, has been cleared of all doping charges. The decision comes after a long and arduous appeal by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).
The case sets a new precedent and is a landmark decision.
She first won her doping case against the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) in 2024.
